atmosphere is a 5/5, cozy and intimate. food is always delicious too, however they do not make any changes or substitutions to the menu here which was limiting for my gluten-free coworker who ended up dining on the seasoned rice. highly recommend you look at the menu ahead of time to make sure you'd like the options available. best ramen in town!

My good friend and I went to Shu Shop for the first time last night. I was craving Ramen so bad and excited to try. WOW. The drinks were very good. We had a interesting time picking a cocktail as the ingredients aren't TYPICAL but ended up going with the Hibiscus Daquiri and it was 10/10. We had the crab claws and scallops for our small plates which were both AMAZING. Having grown up at the beach eating crab claws often, I would dare to say these were the best I've ever had. The Ramen broth is so good. The only thing I would say is the burnt ends were suggested to us as an add on but I didn't particularly like them as it was more of an actual BURNT taste rather than smoky. All in all - I rushed home to tell my husband we will be going back next week haha. GIVE IT A TRY. Super moody ambiance which I love.

Came in last weekend for a quick drink and a few appetizers. Seating was quick and we took a couple of stools at the bar. Great service by our bartender who got to us fast and we ordered and shared a bottle of Sake (Wandering Poet, totally recommend). Small plates were very tasty, especially the agedashi tofu, which was quite silky with excellent (and ample) dashi included in the bowl. The remoulade for the tuna tataki wasn't quite as smooth or as unctuous as I would expect. Good sear on the tuna, but the seasoning on the sear was so intense it took away from some of the raw tuna flavor. Next time, I'll pass on this and try the Hamachi or mixed sashimi plate. Scallops were fantastic. Only small complaint was the price for four scallops ($18). Tasty, but pricey. Overall, a very fun experience and a lively atmosphere. A small warning for anyone with glasses and/or over the age of youthful exuberance: this is a dark, dark, dark restaurant at night. Like, the bartender needed to bring us a lamp to read the menu. I know, the ravages of age. I am attempting to rage against the dying of the light.

Made a quick stop in for late night eats and as always it was delicious! Shu shop is a great place for date night, girls night or even solo! I had a margarita which was wonderful and the seafood ramen which was also amazing! If you are thinking of visiting... do it because you won't be disappointed!

The broth had a nice balance of spices and wasn't too oily. The beef was super tender, and the fresh herbs really made the flavors pop. Service was a bit slow, but the staff was nice. The restaurant is simple, nothing fancy, but clean and welcoming. Would definitely come back when I'm craving pho.

I've been to this restaurant multiple times over the past 2-3 years, and each time it's always a wonderful experience! A few weeks ago I took my friend there before going to a concert, she was visiting from Atlanta. The vibe is so chic and inviting, I always feel comfortable there. There's a ton of style in throughout the restaurant, which you don't see often when dining. Also the music is always on point, you can't not enjoy yourself there! As far as food and service, they are excellent! Make sure you get the crab claws - you'll regret it if you skip over them. The servers are always pleasant and knowledgable of the menu. My friend enjoyed her visit to Birmingham and Shu Shop was a big reason why!! I look forward to making time to go back :)

Shu shop is a whole vibe and I love it. On a cold winter day, there's no better spot than Shu Shop with a warm bowl of ramen and some hot sake. I love some spice but warning on the spice bomb addition for the ramen! I'd start with a little at a time Also- get the Brussels.

What a fun, moody spot for a cozy dinner! Even though this is a small spot in downtown, they usually can seat you pretty quickly, and the whole space has a unique softly lit ambiance! They have a lovely drink menu of cocktails, wines, and sake. I had the ginger daiquiri which was sweet and tasty. My friend had the lowball, which was a nonalcoholic cocktail. The food menu features small plates that are actually quite big. I had the unagi don which was a generous portion for a small plate and really tasty. The ramen has a good broth which you can customize with a spice bomb, but the noodles were a bit overcooked and you can tell they are cooked from dry rather than fresh. The service was quick and they are helpful with recs. Overall, a vibey intimate spot for dinner in downtown!
